Growing Tips
Fertilising Instant Lawns
| One of the secret’s to having a strong, green, healthy instant lawn is regular fertilising. Feeding your lawn every season change will maintain vigour, density and a deep green appearance(this is a guide only and does vary from species to species). A healthy instant turf will discourage weed growth and reduce the chance of disease infections. As with all good things balance is the key, and fertilising lawns should consist of organic and inorganic applications. Organic fertiliser applications should always be clean of weed seeds and not effect the pH of the soil. Examples of organic fertilisers are: Dynamic Lifter and Charlie Carp. Inorganic fertilisers are much higher in Nitrogen content and should always be applied with care. Examples of inorganic fertilisers are: Pivot 400 and Scotts Lawn Builder. Application rates should always be followed and the specialised applicators are recommended to ensure even coverage. If applying by hand the total amount of fertiliser for the area should be halved and applied in 2 different directions. The rule of thumb with fertilisng is to apply dry fertiliser to dry grass and liquid fertilisers to moist grass. Even applications of water are imperative after applying fertiliser’s to lower the risk of burning the foliage. More information on Dynamic Lifter More information on Charlie Carp |
